Title: Gemba Kaizen: Central Post Office and Sebna Ltd-[Video recording]

Notes: The main objective of the National Productivity and Competitiveness Council is to develop a productivity culture in Mauritius so as to make Mauritius more organised, orderly, efficient and productive. One interesting method to achieve this is through the Gemba-Kaizen concept of continuous improvement. The Gemba-Kaizen concept is a Japanese concept which aims at identifying, reducing and eliminating wastes in all systems of an organisation. Central Post Office(9`22) The application of Gemba Kaizen at the Central Post Office not only yielded in tons of unwanted items thus changing the look of the workplace, but it also led to a greater motivation among members of its staff. They were happy to work in a cleaner, tidier and more conducive working environment. SEBNA Ltd.(12`07) At SEBNA Ltd., a subsidiary company of Rogers Group, the workshop resulted in efficiency, quality of products, better services, safety and preventive maintenance. It also brought about a good team spirit among the members of staff.
