The Pan African Productivity Association (PAPA) holds its General Assembly in Mauritius
The PAPA (Pan African Productivity Association) which is leading the productivity movement in Africa is holding its fourth General Assembly on 23-24 August 2007 in Mauritius . Delegates from 7 member countries: Botswana , Kenya , Nigeria , South Africa , Tanzania , Zambia and Mauritius will attend the session to discuss their business plan for 2007-2010 and elect new Board members for the next four years.
The aim of the PAPA is to establish a dynamic and effective partnership with regional economic and social development organizations in Africa to develop and expand an African-wide productivity movement to grow the economy and contribute to an improved quality of lives of Africans.
The General Assembly will focus on:
- Providing a forum for promoting and sharing ideas and experience on strategies, techniques and practices for productivity enhancement
- Encouraging and nurturing the development of a productivity culture in African economies
- Fostering co-operation and collaboration between national productivity organizations and other related bodies in Africa and internationally.
- Facilitating the establishment and development of NPOs in Africa
- Facilitating and promoting tri-partism in enhancing productivity
The PAPA works in partnership with several International Organisation including the African Union, The Commonwealth Secretariat and the Asian Productivity Organisation (APO) and the Japan Productivity Centre for Socio Economic Development (JPC-SED) for technical assistance and capacity building programmes to promote productivity movement in Africa . A master plan for PAPA has been worked in collaboration with JPC-SED.
The co-ordinating body, the PAPA Secretariat provides technical assistance and shares information on productivity promotion and interventions to existing national productivity organizations and those that want to start the productivity organizations in Africa , to help set up their productivity institutions or help with various capacity building programmes for their staff and dissemination of information on productivity.
