The Green Team in collaboration with the students, staff and management of the institution worked on reorganization of classroom setup and timetable and making use of other sport infrastructures. The team carried out a survey, applying the basic techniques of problem solving. The management, teachers, pupils and parents were involved to bring down the percentage of absenteeism at school. The team started a sensitization campaign on a weekly basis applied some existing school rulers and introduced new ones to combat this evil. A fall in absenteeism at school was noted during the months of May -July 2001. As immediate actions, the team placed signboards for silence and also to help teachers for linking class activities with library facilities. Amongst others, a suggestion box helped to follow-up on feedback of students. A request was also placed for new telephone line for Internet facilities. A new photocopying machine was purchased by the PTA. Through this project, the team wanted to promote kite flying as a beautiful, colorful and peaceful activity with highly symbolic character aiming at harmonizing differences. Reviving traditional kite flying also develops artistic creativity based on the laws of Physics and Mathematics. The team held out meetings and visited each class to observe the damage done. Question sheets on the topic were given to some students in each class. The CAT held meetings with all class-captains and explained their action. A survey was carried out regarding discipline, teaching process, infrastructure, rules and regulation of college and others. An action plan was proposed and some suggestions were implemented by the school administration. There were some clear results of the immediate action plan. Pupils can spend an entire day or even an entire week searching for specific information concerning their school or studies and yet, don't get it at the end as in many cases. By working on this project, the team assessed the real importance of the QC concept and team work as well as open-mindedness. | | | |
