Dr Leonard Yong

Dr Leonard Yong is Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology & Pedagogy, University of Malaya. He is an Educational Psychologist who specializes in Creative Thinking and the Creative Personality. He has pioneered and is presently the Director for University Malaya’s Centre for Continuing Education, an innovative education centre catering to the continuing and professional education of more than 5000 working adults. Professor Yong has gained international recognition for his work on the creativity of Malaysians. He was awarded the 1992 Fulbright-ACLS/MACEE Award to undertake postdoctoral research on the creativity of Americans. He was also awarded the 1993 Japan Foundation Research Fellowship Award to conduct research on Japanese creative personalities.

Originator and author of The LEONARD Personality Inventory (LPI), Professor Yong has also designed a computer software for the LPI. The LPI and the LPI software have been widely used in government and corporate organizations. Based on the LPI and its application to help individuals improve their Emotional Intelligence (EQ), Prof. Yong has consulted and conducted numerous training workshops on Enhancing EQ for Innovative Thinking & Leadership. These workshops have been well-received by many Malaysian private and public sector organizations as well as international organizations in Australia, Britain, Germany, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, USA, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.

In Mauritius, Dr Yong conducted a workshop on emotional intelligence and creativity for members of the corporate world in September 2001.
