International Business Consulting

Annual Report 2003 - 2004

International Business Consulting

International Business Consulting

In line with Government objective of making Mauritius a Knowledge Hub, an International Business Consulting unit was added within the NPCC structure.

In fact there was already a demand for sharing of experiences in connection with a few projects. It was felt that the expertise accumulated over the past 3 years could form a base for provision of consultancy services on productivity and competitiveness in the region and elsewhere.

During the financial year, NPCC was approached by Straconsult to build a cluster of institutions to sell productivity and training services to countries of the region.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Straconsult in connection with a proposal for the development of a business plan, implementation and start-up for the Textile and Garment Industry Support Institute of Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia.

The Executive Director was invited by Mr Masaki Imai, founder and president of the Kaizen Institute, to showcase the Muda-Free Mauritius Campaign at a Gemba Kaizen seminar in Dubai on 24th & 25th May 2004.

The Executive Director attended and presented a paper at the Lesotho Productivity Forum and Exhibition - Sharpening the Competitive edge, from 14th to 15th May 2004 in Maseru, Lesotho. The aim of the conference was to facilitate the development of a market for service providers to support the garment industry in Lesotho and to develop a vocational education and training strategy for the industry

?INNOVATION is the specific tool of entrepreneurs, the means by which they exploit change as an opportunity for a different business or a different service. It is capable of being presented as a discipline, capable of being learned, capable of being practiced. Entrepreneurs need to search purposefully for the sources of innovation, the changes and their symptoms that indicate opportunities for successful innovation. And they need to know and to apply the principles of successful innovation.? - Peter Drucker
