Education, Communication & Publications

Spreading the word of productivity, creating awareness on the need to Develop a Productivity Culture and encouraging people from all walks of life to shift their paradigms, to adopt new attitudes and behaviors so as to bring continual improvement continue to be among our top priorities.

We have reached through direct contact more than 40 000 persons during our four years of operation, bringing to them productivity tools – Gemba Kaizen, Civic Action Team, Clustering, Innovation, Knowledge Centre, ICT applications, 5S certification, Benchmarking – that can be applied at the individual, family, industry and country levels.

All NPCC activities are geared towards developing a productivity culture that permeates throughout the whole society

There is still a long way to go for Mauritius to attain the productivity era but some notable achievements have been recorded and we have reasons to believe that the process for a cultural change, one based on civic responsibility, innovation and knowledge sharing, has started. The challenge is to sustain the progress made, to consolidate the achievements and expand the process.

We have redesigned our web page to make it more dynamic and more user friendly, using open source software. To facilitate information dissemination, networking and knowledge sharing, several discussion forums have been created.

During the period under review, our website has been visited more than 100,000 times. International users are mainly from: Switzerland, United States, Singapore, France, India, Canada, Vietnam, China, Australia, Israel, Russian Federation, Mexico, Malaysia, Ukraine, Morocco, New Zealand, Islamic Republic of Iran.

Publications

Six issues of the electronic newsletter and two issues of nou magazine have been published. A strategic paper on the restructuring of the Mauritian clothing industry was also prepared. The paper makes suggestions for the way forward for industry competitiveness.

?So you think that you are impervious to change? Consider: - 98% of all the atoms in your body are replaced every year - your skeleton undergoes replacement every 3 months - your skin, every 30 days - your stomach lining, every 4 days - stomach cells in contact with food, every 5 minutes?
